Welcome to the Maple Country Chapter NWTF web site. We have established this website to better serve our members.   It will help to inform you of our upcoming events, programs and important dates, as well as photos of events and our members.  We hope that this site will assist in our communication with all members as we strive to develop the chapter to meet the expectations of our constituents. Please feel free to contact us with any comments on this page or events.
We would also like to thank all those, past and present, who have helped in the development of this chapter.  It is only through the hard work of its volunteers that the chapter and its events are possible.  Anyone interested in becoming a more active part of this growing chapter should contact us at any of the contacts listed.  As the chapter evolves to become more focused in the local community, we need a strong volunteer base to better fulfill our goals.  Our main mission is to offer interactive programs to the youth in the area.  With the continued support of our members we will continue to grow and improve these activities to provide education, safety training and all around good woodsman ship practices.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at our next event.

Maple Country Chapter Receives National Award

The L.A. Dixon Memorial Chapter Awards are given in honor of a man who gave unselfishly during the NWTF's early years. Dixon founded the North Carolina State NWTF chapter, served at the national, state and local levels and traveled thousands of miles at his own expense carrying the NWTF's message to all who would listen.

The L.A. Dixon Awards are given to local and state chapters to recognize their one-time fund-raising event and performance throughout the year. Fund-raising awards honor a chapter's outstanding first banquet, and existing banquet performance in categories such as, best net-to-gross percentage, greatest net income, sponsor membership achievement and highest membership achievement. Chapter awards honor state chapters for growth in all membership categories, number of banquets held, 5-Star participation, hosting the NWTF's outreach programs, sponsor membership development and greatest expenditures on conservation projects.

Sucesseful Turkey Season
The annual Maple Country Chapter Friends and Family trip to Salt Fork State Park was a great time again this year. Everyone got to hear and work a few birds.  Only one lucky hunter bagged a bird.  Good Job Matt!!  Fishing was excellent this year. Many crappie and a few nice walleye and saugeye were caught.  Plenty of fish for the frier. Although only one bird was harvested on this trip many of the members and friends tagged out this year with a few very nice 3 year olds being harvested.  The ODNR reported and increase of 16% on this years harvest. 21,909 birds were checked in. The leading county was Ashtabula with 923 birds.

Time To Pattern Your Turkey Gun

Did you buy or win a new turkey gun?  Change Chokes, Change to a new load?  If the answer is yes then it is time to go to the range and test your equipment.  Check out our Turkey Techniques page for examples why patterning your gun is important.
